About the Durham House


The Durham House welcomes guests to experience the warmth and charm of a historic Main Line home with 6 well-appointed bedrooms, a reading room and a refreshment area for our guests. Named in honor of Walter Durham, former Merion Cricket Club member and notable Main Line mid-twentieth century architect who designed the house, each bedroom is uniquely arranged with beautiful textures and custom furnishings. Whether visiting family or staying to see the sights, we welcome you to the comforts of home and look forward to creating exceptional experiences for you.

      This ADA accessible guest room on the first floor features a queen-sized bed, soft aqua and coral accents, classic décor, a sitting area with a fireplace, and smart television. The ensuite bathroom is easily accessible and includes a standing shower and terry cloth robes for your comfort.

      The second of two creatively designed suites is located on the second floor. Featuring garden floral designs with pistachio-colored accents and aged honey mahogany furnishings, it is the perfect blend of timeless charm. This suite features a queen-sized bed, custom furniture and décor, a sitting area, fireplace, and a smart television. The ensuite bathroom features a classic style with a bathtub, separate standing shower and terry cloth robes for your comfort.

      Uniquely secluded from the main staircase, the Evans Room is accessed using a private staircase nestled behind the kitchen. Quiet elegance embodies this space decorated in soft blues and a floral design. The room features a queen-sized bed, custom furniture and décor, a writing desk and a smart television. The ensuite bathroom has a classic style with standing shower and terry cloth robes for your comfort.

      Queen Bed | Hall Bath
      Located at the top of the staircase, the Humphreys Room features beautiful blue and yellow accents with bamboo and lattice designs, a queen-sized bed, custom furniture, a smart television and terry cloth robes for your comfort. Adjacent to the bedroom is the hall bath with a combined shower and bathtub, shared only with the Sayres Jr. Room.

      This second-floor room is an intimate space perfect for traveling alone or as a separate room for older children. This guest room features warm blue and deep coral designs with rattan and linen accents, a twin bed, custom furniture, a smart television and terry cloth robes for your comfort. Just across the hall is a bathroom with a combined shower and bathtub, shared only with the Humphreys Room.

  • Making a Reservation

    • Reserve by Telephone
       
      Reservations are available between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. by calling the Front Desk Receptionist at (610) 642-5800. Reservations may not be booked more than one year in advance. All room rates are subject to change.

      Overnight Accommodations may be reserved for members or sponsored guests. Prior to receiving a guest’s reservation, a Merion Cricket Club member must submit a sponsorship letter to secure approval. The sponsoring member assumes financial and conduct responsibility for their guests.
       

      Cancellations
       
      Reservations must be cancelled 30 days prior to the reservation date. If the reservation is not cancelled during this timeframe, a charge of one full night for each room reserved or 50% of the reservation amount, whichever is greater, will be applied to the credit card on file.
       

      Rates
       
      Rates vary seasonally. We will be happy to provide you with a quote for the best available rate for the dates you require. A maximum stay of two weeks is permitted for your stay.
       

      Guarantee
       
      We require a credit card number at the time of booking that will be used for any purchases during your stay. Upon check-in, please let the Front Desk Receptionist know if you would like to use a different card.

      Check-In begins at 3:00 P.M.
      Early check-in is available if the room is ready prior to 3:00 p.m.

      When making your reservation, please let the Front Desk Receptionist know if you are checking in late so that we may alert hospitality as the Front Desk closes at 9:00 p.m.

      Check-Out
       
      Standard check-out is 11:00 A.M.
      Subject to availability, a late checkout of 1:00 p.m. may be granted upon request as long as the request is received by the Front Desk Receptionist before 11:00 a.m. on the day of checkout.

      If checking out early (prior to 8 a.m.), please notify the Front Desk Receptionist upon arrival.

      Should a guest neglect to check-out on time or not receive an approved late check-out, staff will carefully remove the guest’s belongings and place them in storage. A late check-out fee of $50 will be charged on the account for this service. This policy also applies to guests who are changing rooms during their stay.
       

      Please Return Room Keys
       
      If a key is lost or is not returned at the end of the stay, there is a $50 fee per key charged to the credit card on file.

      The Haverford Train Station is one block from The Merion Cricket Club.

      Upon arrival at 30th Street Station, cross the main foyer to the SEPTA Regional Rail. Take the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale Train Line towards Paoli and disembark at the Haverford Station.
